Good advice comes from good places. Two bits of wisdom in the last couple of weeks from my daughter and my partner are going to help me to begin navigating a truer course. Or, as Peter's advice went: "you know what Neo says ...'it isn't only knowing the path, it is walking the path....". Ah, The Matrix.
Recently, I was lamenting to my 23 year old daughter that I hadn't had the motiviation to write in weeks (abandoning my "29 things I know about love" series someone about half way through), closing down my FaceBook writer page and tweeting only sporadically. "It's exhausting, I said, trying to build a so-called platform and a persona, thinking of things to write about that are true to whatever is this brandquest I'm on. She -- of the tumblr, reddit, foursquare, social media generation was puzzled. "Why don't you just write about what you want to write about?" she asked.
Well, why don't I? If you remember (and I'm sure you don't), this blog began nearly two years ago and was to be about my quest toward a simplier life in a Vermont farmhouse. Check the archives -- it's true. Or it was until I took an on-line book proposal course and let marketing overtake the mission. I have a lot more to say about that diversion, but I'm going to skip it for now and get on with my looking for my simplier life. Stay tuned.
